The Heart Behind Luminous Family Photography
Hi, I’m Sarah, the face and heart behind Luminous Family Photography. What began as a dream to build a business from home, one that puts family first, has blossomed into my biggest passion. Photography gives me the freedom to be a present mum while still doing what I love, capturing the fleeting, precious memories that make family life so special.
How it all began
My photography journey began in 2020, when I began studying for my diploma. From the very start, I was drawn to families and newborns, it just felt like home.
As the second oldest of eleven children, I grew up surrounded by babies. Friends used to laugh that if you couldn’t find me at a party, I was probably off in the corner cuddling someone’s bub… and they were right.
I’ve always been a creative soul, whether it’s card making, quilting, cake decorating, knitting, or even dyeing wool. That love for creativity spills into my photography. Every image I take is crafted with the same care and imagination I’ve always poured into making beautiful things by hand.
The Luminous Difference
While many photographers lean into neutral tones and minimal styling, I stay true to real life, full of colour, personality, and meaning.
Every family is unique, and I love weaving your story into your photos. Maybe that means a baby posed in Dad’s drag racing helmet, or incorporating PNG heritage into a setup. Every detail adds a layer of love and individuality that makes your gallery truly yours.
Each session is relaxed, easy going, and full of laughter, a chance for your family to feel seen, comfortable, and celebrated.
A Photographer, A Mum, A Storyteller
I’m a proud mum of three (soon to be four), and my children are the inspiration behind everything I do. They are the reason I chose the name Luminous Family Photography…because they are my little luminaries.
Even on the hardest days, their smiles light up my world. Looking back on their photos fills me with both joy and nostalgia, a reminder of how quickly time moves, and why every image matters.
I know firsthand how easy it is to miss moments, and how precious the ones you capture become. That’s what drives me to help other families hold on to their luminous memories.
